We're hoping to create a homeschooling co-op that
- is made up of a consistent group of 10-20 families
- who meet once or twice a week
- for 3-6 hours
- to offer classes for the community members
- classes would be taught by members of the community, young and old
- classes would run for 1 month courses
- classes could cover ANY topic that someone is interested in learning about and someone is interested in teaching about (from chemistry to drama and basketball to crochet)
- and also offering a "free play" option during each class session for those that aren't interested in any of the classes offered
- Plus a "nursery/preschool" option for little ones
- and also, perhaps, a time at the end of the day for ongoing groups/clubs/etc.
Community members would be expected to
- Participate on a consistent basis
- Volunteer in some capacity--teaching, assisting, childcare, administrative duties, etc.
- Help cover the cost of space rental, though a membership fee (BUT we don't want $ to prevent anyone from participating, so we are hoping to keep the cost as low as possible and offer work/trade options)
